  • FStormCaustics?

    Hi Karba,

Still no plan about the most wanted feature ; caustics?

I think it's time to implement it to FStorm Render. Thanks to consider.
    Software: FStormRender: 0.3.8a/1.3.5l | Drivers NV: 431.86 | 3dsMax: 2020.3 | Windows: 10 x64

I take this silence as a negative consideration. I'm sad. And probably not the only one.

I remember last year seeing a paper (involving henrik Wann Jensen and other 2 guys) with an amazing aprox. method GPU-based of progressive photon mapping (or path traced...??). Can't find it right now. Still searching...

Found it! I believe it's pretty old. Maybe more modern and/or polished algorithms out there by 2019 but, just in case:

Karba, do you think it is doable and can be implemented eventually in FStorm?

        Thanks so much in adavance.

        Best,
        A.

          No plans for caustic.
Photon mapping may be good for pure walls and simple geometry, but if you have something more complex, it fails in most cases.

            Fair enough...

I agree. Minimal is better than nothing.
