  • FStorm has officially won the lawsuit from Otoy

    Hi everyone.

We can finally tell you that FStorm has officially won the lawsuit from Otoy. In fact, Otoy's lawyers didn't even show up for their appeal court hearing.

The FStorm website is now unblocked and you can finally download and buy FStormRender again.

Some thoughts about Otoy’s business in the matter:

You may remember how Jules Urbach (Otoy CEO) claimed that FStorm is a 100% copy of Otoy, built with Octane code and ultimately making Andrey Kozlov a thief. He made a lot of claims, and always stated that he had solid evidence but could never actually show any. Except the made up ones, that is. Like the marked 3ds max render button that we all loved. 3ds max render button in FStormRender looks the same as the one in OctaneRender.

But when Moscow City Court experts asked Otoy for real evidence (OctaneRender source code), Otoy provided less than 1% of the source code, which contained mostly 3ds max SDK. Jules Urbach struggled hard to convince the 3d community that those small 3ds max SDK fragments are somehow proof of that FStorm would be built on Octane code.

Jules Urbach simply cannot accept that a solo developer can do a better job than his multi million dollar company.
He had to lie everywhere, on Facebook, to users, in the courts.

Some influential Nvidia rendering peeps at Siggraph told me Jules Urbach is a narcissist and a pathological liar. I guess that says enough
